Sunlit Path – Gouache Painting

This gouache painting is based on an old photo that I took many years ago during a vacation in Schladming, Styria. Something about this leaf-covered path next to a brook touches my soul deeply. The trees form like an espalier or an honor guard around the path. The late afternoon sun casts long shadows and draws our eyes like a magnet, inviting us into the light.

This painting is painted with gouache paints and egg (instead of water). As a result, it has the glistening surface of an oil painting and it is as resistant to smudges and can easily be dusted and wiped with a moist cloth.

It will be displayed during my next exhibition.
